Today at Morning Meeting...
Each morning the children greet one another in some way: For example: we shake hands, make eye contact and say "hi" around the circle. We progressed to songs with each child's name included. Today we learned a new, non-verbal way to say hello.
Each child picked his/her own unique hand signal.... Examples: clapping, a rocket taking off, windshield wipers, flapping wings, etc.
In the game, one person starts with making his/her own signal. Then she does someone else's signal. The receiving child sees it and "picks it up" by doing their signal and then passing it on to someone else by using that child's signal.
It takes real skill in: focusing, staying focused, making up a unique signal, remembering your signal and everyone else's signals.
Practicing Hilary's signal.
Mendel's fast rocket..... being done by Elet and Hilary.
Mendel laughs at his own signal.
Peretz doing Nechama Leiba's signal!
All of the children were able to do it and they remembered each other's signals better than their morahs! It was challenging and also a lot of fun!
adorable!!
