This morning was a time for re-connecting with one another after days off from school. The children were happy to see their friends. They continued to build (first separately and then in groups) a large Sukka with connecting wings. We discussed the need to see the sky through the roof and they designed accordingly! They were all pleased with the final structure.

We had a fun guest visit from Peretz's brother Mendel, who demonstrated how to say the blessing and shake the lulav. We discussed the different symbols that are brought together to make the lulav. Thank you Mendel for teaching us!
We passed the estrog around and got to smell its wonderful fragrance. "It smells like a lemon" "It smells like cheese!" They all noticed the bumpy texture.

Some children chose to observe.
Mendel was delighted to share his experiences in the sukka!

Morah Anne made her debut as a former guitar player. The children enjoyed getting to try out strumming and making sounds. We started learning a new song about a farmer-pioneer. They helped make up new lyrics.
One child asked how the guitar makes sound which gave us an opportunity to talk
about the vibration of the strings. They were amazed when they could actually see the strings vibrating!
The children added rulers to draw straight lines and to make shapes.

The square and rectangle shapes turned into beautiful drawings of sukkas and fruit as decoration.
Due to the rain, we played inside with the new trikes and other favorites.
